Hi there we added a 24v pump to directly to the Farmduino as a peripheral 4. We can get the pump to turn on and the solenoid open but the system is shutting down when we run the sequence: turn water on, wait 3000 milliseconds, turn on peripheral 4 (24v water pump, max 4amps min 2amps) then shut off water, shutdown pump. The Farmbot shuts down when the solenoid tries to open, I think. We did get it to work as it shoudl once. Any help would be greatly appreciated - I am thinking the peripheral should be just switched and use an independent power switch, but maybe an expert can give better advice: here are some pictures
Unfortunately, the Farmduino is not able to manage that high wattage (24v water pump, max 4amps min 2amps, that is like max 96W or min 48W ) on the peripheral port.
Your FarmBot is shutting down because the power draw from the pump is overwhelming the Farmduino. When the solenoid tries to open, there is too much power draw from both the solenoid and the water pump and the FarmBot shuts down.
The power supply to the FarmBot electronics is only able to deliver 100W total. You will need to select a different pump that draws less power. You should be able to find one that draws less than 40W.
There is one on Amazon called “Mini DC 24V Food Grade Micro Brushless 10W for Aquarium Fountain Medical Instruments” that has worked for us on other projects.
