On older FarmBot Genesis XL setups, I have occasionally run into an issue where the cable carrier links catch on the edges of the plastic cable carrier supports.
When this happens, the gantry can no longer move properly along the X-axis, which leads to blocked movements. In my case, it was intermittent and therefore particularly frustrating to diagnose.
The root cause seems to be that the edge of the support creates a point where the cable carrier links can snag instead of sliding smoothly.
To address this, I designed a small clip that attaches directly onto the cable carrier supports. The purpose of the clip is simply to smooth out that edge and prevent the links from getting stuck.
Since installing it, the movement along the X-axis has been consistent and the issue has disappeared.
I have made the model available for free on Cults3D for anyone experiencing the same problem:
FarmBot clip for carrier support (Genesis older models)
It is a quick print and easy to install, so hopefully it can save others some troubleshooting time.
