Bumping here for assistance. Never displays an error just does not complete the height calibration test.
Hi, I had a similar issue where it wouldn’t detect either height or home on the z axis. It turned out the z axis encoder had a broken element. Only saw this when I opened up the grey casing at the top of the z axis.
Dad thank you for replying I’ll check the z encoder when I get off work and see if that’s the case.
Lol I called you dad, thanks Dan! I believe that is what’s going on here as it has never completed setup 100% I’m hoping I can pull someone with rank in here to remote into my bot and see if it’s something I’m doing wrong.
Happens fairly regularly!
I don’t think anyone will be able to remote into the farmbot itself for you but I would definitely check the z encoder at the top of the axis in the grey casing. I opened it and the top of the motor was broken, as (hopefully) pictured below. If the cable feels very loose that will indicate that.
That circular bit should have a plastic cover over it
You would be able to detect a broken Z-axis encoder while moving, I honestly think that is must be something else.
But you can monitor your encoder values in the controls card, there is a guide that should still work even if it looks a bit different:
My device is still dismantled, so I can’t give that much advice and experiences.
Let’s try to call @Marc in here, if he does not reply in the next couple of days you can try to contact the staff at contact@farm.bot for direct assistance.
