Hi FB community,
I would like to build a mobile bed for the recently bought FB v1.8 and I just found the instructions for the Express → Building a Mobile Raised Bed | FarmBot Express Documentation
As far as I see the dimensions are not the same and I´m wondering if someone has also instrustions available for the Genesis.
Greetings and Happy Christmas
Thomas
While we haven’t released the Genesis v1.8 documentation yet, the maximum raised bed dimensions are unchanged from v1.7. So here the relevant links you can use today:
Thank you Rory for guiding me to the right documentation
I’m reviewing the mobile raised bed design, and I don’t see any way to level the bed of the CNC. If the floor isn’t ideally level, or the wood bows a bit, won’t this create issues for the control system and motor down the line?
tldr: Does the Bed need to be level?
The bed should be as close to level as you can get it. +/- 1 degree will be okay, but if you have a significantly uneven floor I recommend adjusting the leg heights to counteract the unevenness, resulting a level bed top. If you plan on moving the bed around on an uneven floor, you should add a way to adjust the height of the legs on the fly. For example, you could use adjustable height casters or feet, or simply add spacers under legs that need them once you move the bed into position.
Regarding bowing: I really want to emphasize using thick enough bed walls to prevent bowing as much as possible. Adding a tensioning cable with a turnbuckle in the center of the bed can help counteract expansion of wet soil, though soil expansion for indoor setups is typically much less than an outdoor installation which can become completely saturated with rain.
