I have been combing the information Farmbot has published and I feel the answer is just out of my grasp, but simply would a raspberry Pi4 be usable with a farmdunio express v1.1, either with USB or a Gpio cable? I originally was trying to use a ramps variant but that firmware lacks spi stall detection .
Yes; I’ve not tried it but see no impediments other than USB cabling to the Farmduino plus the GPIO connections to the box switches and LEDs (perhaps).
Flash https://storage.googleapis.com/farmbot-production/releases/farmbot-rpi4-15.4.1.img then select Express v1.1 for your Farmduino firmware.

For “Summer months” you may need to consider forced cooling of the RPi4B
