X2 Motor Vibrating in Place

Hi all,

we’ve had a Farmbot Genesis XL 1.6 installed outside for the past 3 months and have only had minor issues with Farmbot stalling from time to time (only on the x axis). However, for the past week or so, the x2 motor has not been working properly at all, it just vibrates back and forth instead of turning normally. Even with no load at all. We tried plugging the Y motor cable in the X2 output on the farmduino and the X2 cable into the Y output (and switched the encoders accordingly). This transferred the problem to the Y motor, and the X2 motor started turning smoothly again.

I also tested numerous motor parameter combinations according to the guides available in this forum surrounding X axis stalling. Turning encoders off also did not fix the problem. Since I thought this might be a software problem, I also tried hard resetting the farmbot OS on the micro SD, which also did not help. Currently, the only way the x2 motor will turn smoothly is by using the “Find length” command on the x axis. When moving it through any other sequence or the farmbot position element in the webapp, the x2 motor starts vibrating and stalling again. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Thank you in advance.
