Our Z location resets to 0 after every move.

You may be having some encoder problems on your Z-Axis motor.
Also, you may need to check the intermediate connector where the Z-Axis encoder wire from the motor mates up with the Z-Axis encoder wire going to the electronics box. Sometimes if the intermediate connector is loose, it can disrupt the encoder signal going to your Farmduino electronics.
