What do I need to extend the growing area? How wide can I make the gantry before I run into structural problems? Am I correct in assuming that I can make the tracks as long as I want assuming I get additional cabling, G2Timing belt, and cable carrier?
I would like to order a farmbot, but my garden is 4500mm x 3000 mm and I want make sure I order the correct quantities of needed materials. Can someone help? I can someone guide me. I can figure out the extrusions, but there will be other things like cables and connectors, etc.
There are several threads on this forum that discuss larger FarmBots.
- There is the FarmBot XL, which essentially covers 4 times the normal growing area (6000 mm x 3000 mm).
- There is much discussion regarding increasing the tracks length. FarmBot guys are working on devices reliable up to 12 meters. After that you will likely need even stronger motors to pull the extra weight of cables and such over a longer track.
